The CAPiTA Mega Split Splitboard + Union Expedition Skins is a superlight combo for any backcountry rider looking for top-quality performance at a mountaineering-acceptable weight. Powered by a carbon reinforced 3D Ascend 1 Split core, this board features light but strong wood like paulownia and poplar for the ideal balance of performance and weight. Rocker Type

Alpine V One– The ALPINE V1 Profile design features mid-body camber with a flat tail and a reverse cambered nose. This allows for tons of popand stability on hard pack while increasing float and landing power, improving the rider’s performance in deep snow. The camberruns longer in the tail—providing extra power for the ascent or for larger riders drawn to a dedicated wide series.

Flat Kick– With CAPiTA’s FLAT KICK design technology, they’ve tightened the tip profile radius that blends the shoulders of the board intothe tip and tail height on reverse camber boards. The tight tip radius in conjunction with tuned blend zones allows you to havea forgiving and easy to ride reverse camber board that is still responsive and quick during edge to edge transitions. This alsocreates a flat tip and tail which increases jibbing stability and also helps the board plane on top of powder creating float andcontrol.

Terrain: Splitboarding SplitboardingA splitboard snowboard is built specifically for the backcountry rider. Splitboards are designed to break down into two separate halves for touring and uphill travel (with climbing skins). Special bindings are required as well. Once you’ve reached the top of the terrain feature, you reconnect your splitboard for the ride back downhill. However, it’s important to note that you will need appropriate backcountry tools, knowledge of the backcountry, weather and snow conditions and climbing skins to safely take advantage of the freedom of a splitboard.

Ability Level: Advanced-Expert Advanced-ExpertWhether you charge the steepest lines, hit the biggest jumps in the park or carve with race-like precision, advanced to expert level skis, snowboards, boots and bindings are for the more aggressive rider. In skis and snowboards, you’ll often find layers of metal, carbon or other stringers for rigidity and power, while advanced to expert level boots and bindings are usually on the stiffer side of the spectrum for rebound and precision steering.

This profile is increasingly popular for freeride boards designed primarily for soft snow.

Flex Rating: Stiff StiffThe amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers’ number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
